When it comes to being a dedicated travelling foodie, there’s only one guide that truly matters in your gourmet exploration of the world. Published for over a century, the Michelin Guide 2016 was released in September and featured no less than five restaurants from the Birmingham area who retained or otherwise achieved the fabled Michelin Star. The Michelin Star is renowned not just for the fact that it signals that a restaurant has achieved a superior quality of décor, cuisine and service, but also because it can greatly improve upon the tourism said restaurant then receives. Birmingham’s achievement of five Michelin Stars in the 2016 Guide greatly signifies the foodie renaissance that the city is currently enjoying, with establishments in both the city centre and the outlying areas receiving lots of praise from critics and guests alike.
